George D. Pincock, age 96, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025.

George was born on September 27, 1928, in Sugar City, Idaho to Douglas Pincock and Rhea Dalling Pincock. Growing up in a rural area doing farm work taught him the value of hard work early in life. He graduated from Ricks College in 1948 as the Valedictorian of his class and then served two and a half years in the Spanish American Mission, which included all the states that bordered Mexico plus Colorado. Upon returning from his mission, he attended BYU where he graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering in the spring of 1953.

While on his mission, George met his future wife, Dorothy. They were married June 11, 1953, in the Idaho Falls temple. Soon after, George was drafted into the Army following the Korean war. He served in England for 9 months as a Sergeant at the Greenham Common Air Force Base.

From 1955-1969, George worked for General Electric as a Nuclear Engineer at the Atomic Energy Site (Idaho National Laboratory) near Idaho Falls; and for 17 years following that, he worked for the Naval Reactors Facility at the atomic site. He had a successful career and was proud of his accomplishments. After his retirement in 1990, George and his wife enjoyed travelling to different countries and spending winters in Arizona.

George and Dorothy made Mud Lake, Idaho their home as a young couple and lived there for 47 years. They raised their six children in Mud Lake and loved the people in that area. They purchased 80 acres of land there, and George built their family home with his own hands. He enjoyed farming, as well as gardening and camping. He was very gifted and could fix or build anything he set his mind to. He often helped his children and grandchildren with their projects, from sheds, to trailer wiring, to tornado remediation, automotive, cabinetry, awnings, cabin building, even teepee creation. His children and grandchildren loved playing in the haystacks, especially building forts. They also loved riding motorcycles, the turkey bowl at Thanksgiving, and BB guns. Family reunions in Mud Lake and camping were also favorite activities that Grandpa George orchestrated.

George was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities in the church, including Young Men’s President, Bishop, High Councilor, Stake Executive Secretary, Gospel Doctrine Teacher and Sunday School President. In 1994, George also filled a mission with his wife, Dorothy, in Resistencia, Argentina. Both he and his wife spoke fluent Spanish.

George was passionate about doing family history work and devoted many hours to finding his ancestors and attending the temple to do their temple work. Later in his life, he was able to find around ten thousand ancestors who lacked temple ordinances. George also loved to sing and play the piano. Music was an important part of his life.

George lived a full and honorable life and will be remembered most for his deep devotion to his family and the gospel of Jesus Christ. He will be greatly missed by his family.

He is survived by his sons, Doug (Debra), David (Lori), and Keith (Lanna), Layne (Leslie) Pincock and daughters, Sharon (Hal) Christensen and Cara (Andrew) Draney. He is also survived by his 30 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Pincock, parents Douglas and Rhea Pincock, sisters Lorna Davies and Geraldean (died as an infant), and brothers Vern, Max and Blair Pincock.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, February 7, 2025 from 6pm to 8pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Garfield 4th Ward building at 5 North 3900 East, Rigby, Idaho.

Funeral services for George will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025. There will be a viewing from 9:30am to 10:30am followed by the funeral at 11:00am held at Garfield 4th Ward chapel.

George will be laid to rest next to his wife, Dorothy, in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
