Frances Cushman Obituary
Frances B. Cushman age 84 of Platteville, WI passed away Monday, February 3, 2025, at SSM Health Saint Mary's Hospital in Madison, WI. She was born May 1, 1940, at home in rural Platteville, the daughter of Ben and Hazel (Rouse) Jones. Frances grew up in rural Platteville. She attended Platteville High School. Frances was united in marriage to Daryl Cushman on November 15, 1957. Following their marriage, Frances began working as a waitress at Dairy Queen in Platteville and later at Advance Transformer in Platteville.
She is survived by her two sons: Darwin Cushman of Platteville and Shawn (Sandy) Cushman of Pewaukee, WI; 5 grandchildren: Jeremiah (Cassandra) Cushman, James Cushman, Cody Cushman, Jared Cushman and Alena Cushman; 2 Great-grandchildren: Evelyn and Rory; one brother-in-law: Shelby (Colleen) Cushman of Boscobel, WI and special friend: Charlie Dobson. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Daryl in 1995, one brother: Edward Jones; one sister: Velma Jones; brothers-in-law: Cletus Cushman and Dale (Margarett) Cushman and one sister-in-law: Faith Cushman.
Frances enjoyed the simple things in life. In her free time, you could find her in her backyard pruning her flowers or growing her garden. She was known for her generosity in the kitchen, providing meals for the local VFW or making her famous Chicken Alfredo for her children and grandchildren. She also had a passion for fishing and loved to toss a line in the water when she got a chance. Above all, Frances adored her grandchildren and cherished the time they had spent together playing board games and doing puzzles.
Funeral services will be held Saturday February 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Melby Funeral Home in Platteville. A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of service. The burial will be held at Boscobel Cemetery in Boscobel, WI. The Melby funeral home is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.melbyfh.com
