Deriek William Midgley, age 58, of Gatesville, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026.
Inurnment with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
Deriek was born on August 27, 1967, in Springfield, Ohio, to the late William Sawyer and Louise Vanhorn Midgley. He grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he attended and graduated from Olympus High School in 1986. During high school, he joined the Utah National Guard ROTC program. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served during the Gulf War. He also served for a short time in the United States Navy.
On April 29, 2000, Deriek married Susan Shirts in Magna, Utah. They made their home there until moving to Gatesville several years later. He enjoyed building guitars, watching military history movies, chatting with friends, and hosting movie nights.
Deriek was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Daryl Midgley. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Susan Midgley; his daughter, Holly Herrera; his sons, Scott Lewis Mansfield and Nickolas Midgley; his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Midgley; and his grandchild, Sebastian Herrera.
