Robert Glynn Obituary

Robert D. Glynn, Jr.
01/29/2025
Robert D. Glynn Jr., 82, of Walnut Creek, CA, passed away on January 29, 2025, in the peace of his home, surrounded by his family. Born in Orange Township and raised in Waldwick, New Jersey, son of the late Robert and Virginia Glynn.
Bob graduated from Don Bosco Prep. He is an alumnus of both Manhattan College and Long Island University, and graduated from programs at Harvard Business School and Michigan University. Bob's career spanned more than 40 years in work related to the utility industry.
He was devoted to his wife, Kathleen, whom he cherished. They met in New Jersey and were married for over 60 years.
Bob's faith was the foundation of his life. His beliefs were reflected in his humility, consideration of others, and giving back to his community including decades of volunteer work, youth outreach, and being a lector at his church.
In his retirement, Bob found the time to dedicate to his personal joys. London, his dog, was his constant shadow and loyal companion. Bob's day started with a cup of Peet's coffee and, if you were lucky, one of his famous undercooked omelettes. Some days would find Katie and him cycling, travelling, or headed to the cool beach air. They shared a love of the performing arts and were faithful attendees of the San Francisco Ballet and Symphony, Broadway performances, and their grandchildren's recitals. He and Katie were avid supporters of Habitat for Humanity and devoted volunteers at Monument Crisis Center, where he was affectionately called "Bob the Builder."
Bob is survived by his wife, four children, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
A service will be held to celebrate Bob's life on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 1650 Ygnacio Valley Rd., Walnut Creek, CA 94598. Celebration of Life reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Monument Crisis Center in Concord, Ca
(https://www.monumentcrisiscenter.org), an organization that holds a special place in Bob's heart.

We met Bob and Katie through adult co-ed soccer in Walnut Creek. Bob was the official photographer of young offspring on the sidelines. Fond memories.

February 15, 2025

Bob Glynn was Blessed by God and God's light shone through him. Bob was the head of a great family. He reached the summit of success in his work. In retirement, he and his wife Katie bicycled the USA and Europe. He got to know his grandchildren. He got to express his love for others in working in charitable organizations and his church. He was our friend. Rest in peace. The Wampler family.
