Dr. Lester A. Tanner
February 5, 1927 – October 13, 2024
Dr. Lester A. Tanner, Retired Principal of the Newhall School District from 1963-1988, passed peacefully in his Newhall home of 61 years, on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at the long-lived age of 97, just 40 days after celebrating his 75th Wedding Anniversary, to the love of his life, Millie.
Les helped countless students over the years with his kindness and dedication. Whether offering encouraging words to students or supporting his colleagues, he always radiated positivity, making a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him.
Les will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to education, his generous spirit, and the joy he brought into the lives of others. His legacy of leadership and love will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those he touched throughout his life.
Les is survived by his wife Millie, 3 of his children, Becky, David & Stacey, 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. His final resting place will be at Eternal Valley, next to his son, Mark Joseph Tanner, who passed in 1969 when he was only 3-1/2 months old.
Les was also an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Newhall for over 60 years, where his service will be on Saturday, November 2nd at 1:00p.m. (24317 Newhall Ave.) Please join us for his Celebration of Life. Les, we will miss you immensely.
