DRUSILLA BAIR Memoriam

Dru Bair was born in Sacramento in 1949. Not long after birth she moved to San Jose with her parents Louie and Roberta. Dru loved spending her days in the fruit orchards.
One of Dru's first jobs was working for the telephone company as an operator. Back then the operator's job was to connect all the calls. This was a perfect job for her because she loved to talk. Dru then took a waitress job at Bobs Big Boy restaurant. This started her love of the restaurant business.
In 1984, Dru and husband Bob moved to Sonora. They purchased Tom's saw shop. After many years of owning the saw shop, Dru wanted to open a restaurant (she always joked that she just went from bar oil to cooking oil).
On December 23rd, 1993 Dru's dream came true. Woods Creek Cafe was opened in Jamestown. For 28 years Dru and daughter Darci worked side by side creating and cooking specials. Dru had a very creative culinary mind. She would sometimes dream of dishes at night and then come in and try them out on customers. Dru always said she should write a book about all the crazy things that have happened in 28 years of owning a restaurant.
Dru will always be remembered for her kind and giving heart. Her employees all knew she would be right by their side if they needed anything. That actually is true for anyone she knew.
