Michael EPLER Obituary

February 1, 1949 - September 28, 2023

Michael Dennis Epler was born on February 1, 1949, to Richard and Eileen Epler. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, and following his honorable discharge, he began his career with the Spokane Fire Department in April 13, 1973. He served the citizens of Spokane for 27 years, retiring on January 5, 2000, with the rank of Captain.

Following his retirement, he relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, which served as his home base for his extensive travels on his Harley Davidson Motorcycles, which were his passion. He was a friend to many, cultivated extensive connections throughout the U.S. on his bike, and was affectionately known as "Biker Mike." He loved his daughters and grandchildren fiercely, and never forgot a birthday or holiday.

Mike died suddenly, of natural causes, on September 28, 2023. The loss felt by those closest to him is immense.

He is preceded was death by his parents (Richard Epler, September 15, 2022, and Eileen Epler, January 26, 2023), his brothers Steven Epler (Barbara Beck) and Philip Epler (Lori Epler). He is survived by his brother, Douglas Epler (Denise Epler) and his two daughters, Shana Epler (daughters Sienna and Saige) and Sara Epler (sons Jack and Owen).

There will be two Celebrations of Life, one in Phoenix, AZ, at the American Legion Post 105, 1818 West Bell Road, Phoenix, AZ, on November 4, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. and one in Spokane, WA, at Spokane Eagles Aerie 2, 6410 N. Lidgerwood St,. Spokane, WA, on December 3, 2023, at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to one of the many charities Mike supported throughout his life: Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, Disabled American Veterans, St. Jude's Hospital, The Salvation Army, and The National Fallen Firefighters Fund.

Oh my gosh. I´m devastated.
I just found out Mike had passed away. I dated him a while back and loved him very much. I even went to Shana´s wedding years ago in Coeur d´Alene. We lost touch over the years, but he will always be remembered by me as my love. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. He will always be in my heart and truly missed.
