Bates, Allison Blythe
It is with broken hearts that we share the passing of our sweet little girl, Allison Blythe Bates. She left us unexpectedly on September 3, 2025, at the young age of 23. Allison, known by many nicknames, Ruby, Ally, Bunny, and Roo was the most beautiful baby with her porcelain complexion, ruby colored lips, and beautiful, sparkling brown eyes. She immediately stole our hearts.
Allison was born in St. Louis, MO on January 24, 2002 and was the cherished daughter of Elizabeth and Ben Young. Beloved granddaughter to her Mimi and Papa (Debby & Harold Bates) and Meemaw (Jean Young), was the adored niece of all her Aunts and Uncles (Sarah & Nick Terrill, Matt Young, Jimmy & Cassie Young and Leah & Rachel Young), loved so very much by her cousins (Austin & Blake Terrill and Abrham & Sloane Young). Allison leaves behind her best buddy and furry companion (Lucy). Allison was treasured by all and touched the hearts of everyone who ever met her.
Right from the start we knew that Allison had her own way of doing things. It was her way or no way. Allison had to work hard on reaching milestones early in life. She continued to work hard during her time at First Steps and then when she went into Early Childhood School. Allison hit her stride, found her groove, and her people once she began attending school through the Special School District. Allison attended Southview, and those were some of the best years of her life. There she thrived under the care and love of her favorite teachers, Amye and Michelle. School was truly Allison’s jam; she adored her classmates, learning new things, and of course, keeping everyone on schedule. She looked forward to Mondays because that was the start of the school week; they were often celebrated with ‘Thank Goodness It’s Monday’ cookie cakes brought to school by Allison’s mom. She most enjoyed going out in the day program to prepare her for adulthood. Allison graduated high school and received her high school diploma.
Allison loved being with family and friends more than anything and was always up for a good party. Anything and everything became a party. Pool parties, boating parties, holiday parties, dance parties, and waffle parties, the more lights and decorations the better! No holiday was too small to recognize, and her room and house were always decorated to the nines with lights and décor thanks to her mom.
Allison was an old soul when it came to her tunes. Some of her favorites included CCR, Fleetwood Mac, Sonny & Cher, Otis Redding, and The Beatles. She was gifted with rhythm, always clapping along perfectly to the beat. Music played such a large role in her life and her dancing was the absolute best. Car rides, slushie in hand, listening to her favorite playlist with the windows down was one of her favorite pastimes. Allison loved nothing more than getting lost and exploring country roads with her mom and Lucy.
Allison enjoyed playing Super Mario Brothers (except for the levels with the ghosts), “Oh No Ghosts!” She loved tacos, Mimi’s chicken tetrazzini, and her hot chicken (jalapeño poppers from Jack in the Box). Allison loved dressing up and always wore the cutest dresses to school, but going anywhere else, she had to be in her jammies wrapped in a fuzzy blanket. She was the ‘Queen of Comfort.’ Allison liked to dictate what her mom would wear, often resulting in several wardrobe changes a day. Swimsuits were always a part of the mix, and her mom happily wore them even in winter. Allison could be a Houdini when it came to hiding items she wanted nothing to do with - specifically her shoes and clothing. Allison loved looking back on wonderful memories by viewing pictures and videos on her iPad of herself with friends & family and all the amazing adventures with her mom and dad, and the many, many parties.
Allison brought so much joy into our lives. She was full of empathy and expressed deep concern for anyone with a boo-boo. We will always remember her beautiful smile, contagious laugh, and the best hugs & kisses. She taught us patience, understanding, and compassion. Allison was an angel sent from heaven, and we know she is home, smiling down on everyone, and having the best dance party ever. Allison will be forever missed, forever loved, and forever in our hearts.

Allison was an angel on earth and now an angel in heaven. I'll always remember sitting on a blanket with her while the boys were playing a game and it'd be my turn to play and she'd grab my hand and not want me to go. Such a sweetheart. Love you guys.
