Arthur Hughes Obituary

With love and sadness, we share the passing of our dear, Arthur Leroy Hughes. Beloved son, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He passed away peacefully on September, 24th, 2025 at the age of 78 at the Hospice of the Lake in Salisbury.

Arthur was born on March 1st, 1947 in Elliot's Island to Eva Lee Grace Willey Hughes and Emerson Hughes. Arthur grew up in Elliot's Island and spent his life there until he and his wife, Lou Ann Hughes moved to Hurlock. Arthur made a career for himself as an electrician. He and Lou Ann married on January 9th, 1965 making this year their 60th wedding anniversary. They created a beautiful life and family for themselves, having two children, Ricky Lee Hughes & Lori Ann Hughes. Arthur is known for his distinct sense of humor, love for hunting & fishing, watching sports and spending quality time with his family.

Arthur is survived by his two children; Ricky Lee Hughes and Lori Ann Hughes. Grandchildren; Ricky Lee Hughes Jr., Dylan Hughes, Kelsey Conn and Colby Glanden. Great grandchildren; Ellie Rippons, Brice Melton, Serenity Conn and Ricky Lee Hughes III. Siblings; Norman Hughes and Shirley Marine. His dearest caregiver, Kristy Marshall. Arthur also had many nieces and nephews and extended family members, whom he loved dearly. Arthur is proceeded in death by his wife, Lou Ann Hughes and siblings; Louise Thomas, Charles Hughes, Nancy Phippin and Virginia Rathell.

In honor of Arthur and his wife Lou Ann's wishes, a celebration of life will be held together, announced at a later date. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend.

Arthur's memory will always live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
