Cathy Smith Obituary

Cathy Jean Smith (Maynard), age 70, passed peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 5, 2024 in her home in Affton, St. Louis County, Missouri. Cathy will be dearly missed by her husband of 51 years, Lawrence (Larry) Smith, her children Kelly (James) Chapman, Jeffrey (Rebecca) Smith, and Scott (Melissa) Smith; her grandchildren Tressa (Derrick) Miller, Kristalyn Chapman (Ronnell Seals), Marisa Chapman (Kimberlie Stuart), Kellen Chapman, Sabrina (Nick) Castilleja, Paige Smith, Logan (Jordan) Smith, Landon Smith (Morgan Birtley), Arielle Smith (Dagan Allen), Jacob Smith, Aaron Smith, Abigail Smith, Benjamin Smith, Haden Smith; and her great grandchildren Gabriella, Nathan, Emryss and Elijah Miller, Aria and Mila Castilleja.

Despite her struggles with the chronic pain of rheumatoid arthritis for most of her life, Cathy lived her life with a child like excitement for the simple pleasures in life and her greatest treasure was her family. She never turned away a stray, and received so much joy from caring for her many pets throughout the years. Her boisterous laugh and witty banter will be so missed by all who knew and loved her.

I didn´t know Cathy well but have gotten to know her family. The kindness I have seen from them speaks volumes of the person she was. May you find pain free peace in the afterlife. Thank you for raising such a wonderful friend to us.
