John William Higgins Sr.
John William Higgins Sr., age 83, of Rosebush, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Friday, October 6, 2023. He was born in Belding on August 24, 1940, the son of Lynn and Virginia (Hall) Higgins.
John proudly served in the United States Army, after his enlistment he obtained a job as an upholsterer with General Motors. He would work for GM for 31 years before his retirement. John was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish and got to the Silver Lake sand dunes. He also enjoyed drive-in movie theaters and spending time with family.
John is survived by his children, John Higgins II of Belding, Shari (Terry) Chamberlain of Rosebush; grandchildren, Natasha Higgins, Joseph Higgins, Kimberly Kiehl, Christina Higgins, Rachel Barnes; great grandchildren, Brendan, Kya, Jonathon, Arienne, Cyndia, Ethan, Landon, Markiss; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Marc Higgins; parents, Lynn and Virginia Higgins; and siblings, Eleanora Higgins, and Richard "Dick" Higgins.
No public services will be held at this time. Cremation has taken place per John's wishes. For those wishing to make a donation in John's honor, memorial contribution may be directed to American Legion Belding. The family would like to give a special thank you to Carol's AFC Home, and Hospice of Bay City for the wonderful care that they provided to John.
