Carol Schuerer Zuber was born December 31, 1957, in East Amana, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Helen Schuerer. Carol grew up in East Amana surrounded by family and the close-knit Amana community. In 1981, she married the love of her life, Brad Zuber, and together they built their family home across the street from her childhood home. There, they raised their beloved children, Maria and Harry, filling their lives with faith, laughter, and music. Carol lived a life devoted to her family, her faith, and her community. She was known for her joyful spirit, her quick laugh, and her ability to make every person she met feel like a lifelong friend. Her energy and passion for the welfare of others was poured out through her gift of hospitality. Carol shared her talents generously, as a Sunday School Teacher, Volunteer German Teacher, Den Mother, Colony Folksingers leader, and so much more. An artist at heart, she built VBS props, Oktoberfest floats, and show choir stage sets of every kind imaginable. She found inspiration everywhere. Her career was in the Amana Society General Store, but truly, she created fun, inspired joy, and built memories. She had a heart for service, giving her time to countless organizations and always lending a hand where it was needed most. To us, she was and always will be the best mother. The light and joy of each day. A heart shining brightly with the love of the Lord. She inspired us and led by example. She always believed the best in others. A leader, a volunteer, a helper, a servant, always putting others first. A constant encourager, a bastion of love and support. A home builder. A barrier breaker. A traveler. The life of every party. An instant friend to all she met. A mother to more than she knew. A caregiver. Humble, kind, and limitless in her compassion. A troublemaker in the best way. A go-getter. A rule breaker. The best letter writer. A teacher. A gifted musician and the most joyful performer. An example of what it means to be a loving spouse. And so much more to so many. Carol is survived by her husband of 44 years, Brad Zuber; her children, Maria and her husband Mark Madden and Harry Zuber and his wife Deana Zuber-Hero, her beloved grandchildren Grace and Liam Madden. As well as her brother, Neal and wife Melissa Schuerer and wonderful nieces, nephews, and many friends whom Carol considered family. The contributions of Carol's life are written on the hearts of all who met her. She found joy in encouraging others, building community, and sharing the love of Christ in everything she did. Her family finds comfort in knowing that, as Carol would often remind them, our hope is in our resurrected Lord.
