Dennis F. Sperfslage, 68, of Independence, Iowa, died November 13, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 A.M. Friday, November 22, 2024, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Winthrop with Rev. David M. Beckman officiating. Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, November 21, 2024, at the Monti Community Hall in Monti and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 22, 2024, at St. Patrick's Church Hall in Winthrop, Iowa. Vigil Service: 7:00 P.M. Thursday, November 21, 2024, at the Monti Community Hall in Monti. Interment: St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Winthrop. Fawcett-Schmitz Funeral Home in Winthrop is assisting the family. Dennis Francis Sperfslage was born April 14, 1956, in Manchester, the son of Richard William and Ethel Bertha (Greiner) Sperfslage. Dennis was raised and educated in the Winthrop area and was a 1974 graduate of East Buchanan High School. After graduating Dennis worked at various jobs in the area. He began farming at age nineteen in Buchanan County and continued farming throughout his life. He worked many hours with Joe Gallery excavating and moving grain bins for over twenty years.
