Zofia Dziedzic Obituary
Zofia Dziedzic
Born: June 7, 1949 in Banska Wyzna, POL
Died: September 12, 2024 in Bonita Springs, FL
Zofia "Sophie" Dziedzic, age 75, of Bonita Springs, Florida, formerly of Joliet, Illinois, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024, surrounded by her family. Sophie will be laid to rest in Banska Wyzna, Poland, beside her beloved Ted and surrounded by other family members who preceded her in death. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop, Abernathy, TX.
She was born in Poland June 7, 1949 to Wojciech and Maria (Bartoszek) Dziedzic. Sophie married Tadeusz "Ted" Dziedzic in 1973. Ted immigrated to the United States in December 1979, and Sophie later joined him. Together, through hard work and a deep family focus, they built a life in the U.S., eventually bringing their two daughters over from Poland to join them.
Although she adapted to life in America, Sophie always held a special love for her homeland, particularly the Polish Highlands, the people, and the Goral traditions. She often reminisced about the beautiful winter snows, the close-knit bonds of family and friends, and the refreshing springs and summers of her childhood in Banska Wyzna, nestled in the mountains and valleys near Zakopane. Sophie also became a small business owner, running "Ted & Sophie's" on Hickory Street in downtown Joliet for more than twenty years. The couple's business brought them countless lifelong friendships. She enjoyed playing darts and pool, leading many teams to victory. Sophie's warmth, generosity and positivity touch the lives of all around her. She was a great source of joy, a beacon of hope, and a wellspring of love.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Tadeusz "Ted" Dziedzic July 24, 2009.
Sophie is survived by her daughters Ella Cagle and husband Carlen of Lubbock, TX and Renata Kelley and husband Brian of Bonita Springs, FL., 5 grandchildren Alexis and Emma Cagle both of Lubbock, Adessa, Kiara and Nicholas all of Bonita Springs, FL., one sister, three brothers, her mother-in-law Maria Dziedzic and numerous nieces and nephews all of Poland.
The family kindly requests that those who knew and loved Sophie honor her memory by sharing acts of kindness, cherishing their families, and striving to make the world a better place for future generations.
