James Thomas Obituary

Plymouth – James Seward Thomas, 76, passed away in his lifelong home on Friday, Feb. 7, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Plymouth Parkview Hospital on March 20, 1948 to Robert and Dorothy (Carothers) Thomas.
Jim proudly served in the United States Army during Vietnam. During his time stationed in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, he met Lou Ann Hiser. They were united in marriage on Aug. 29, 1970, in Andalusia, Alabama. They would celebrate near 55 years of marriage, creating a lifetime of memories as they raised their family.
Upon returning to Plymouth after his time in the service, he resumed operations on his family's farm. Jim had an accomplished career in manufacturing fuel controls for engines at Honeywell before his retirement in 2008.
Jim's family will dearly miss him for his silly, goofy personality. He could be stoic at times but was truly fun-loving at heart. He instilled the values of hard work in his family and always made his own errors a learning moment for his children to show them the right way.
In his younger years, Jim enjoyed riding horses and was a member of the 4-H Horse Club with his sister, Pat. He was also an avid water skier on Lake Maxinkuckee in Culver. There are many fond memories on the lake with his dad driving the boat while Jim was skiing.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, LouAnn; children, Sean (Jody) Thomas, Jason Thomas, Matt (Kristen) Thomas, and Stephanie (Dave) Parish; grandchildren, Anna, Evelyn, Alyssa, Austin, and Andrew; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Pat (Terry) Plank; and cousin, Janet (Curt) Howard.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563, Funeral Services will immediately follow at 1 p.m. with Life Celebrant James Smart officiating.
James will be laid to rest at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, FL.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the Cancer Association of Marshall County, PO Box 895, Plymouth, IN 46563.
