Millie Ann Gates, 84, of Princeton formerly of War, WV passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital in Tazewell, VA. Born November 6, 1939 in Buchanan County, VA she was the daughter of the late George Wimmer and Adna Keen Wimmer. Before retirement Millie worked as a custodian for McDowell County Schools and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in War. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Rowan Gates; three sisters, Freda Asbury, Corby Mosley, and Leaborn Payne; and two brothers, Robert Wimmer and Grat Wimmer. She is survived by her youngest sister and caregiver Alta “Lois” Sheets and husband Charles of Princeton; five sisters, Mary Barrett of Cedar Bluff, VA, Gertie Haire of Sturgis, KY, Nancy Payne and husband Les of Paynesville, WV, Pat Sheets and husband Harold of Princeton, and Goldie Roberts and husband James of Williamsburg, VA; one brother, Luther Junior Wimmer and wife Carol of Sevierville, TN; several nieces and nephews including special nieces and nephews, Susan Shreve, Stephen Smith, and Darrell Payne; and many special friends in War, WV and her new community here in Princeton. A Cryptside service will be held at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 29, 2024 with Eulogists Harold Sheets and Darrell Payne. Friends may call at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton from 12:00 PM until 12:30 PM on Monday. Those wishing to attend the Cryptside service are asked to meet at the funeral home be 12:30PM. The family would like to give a special thanks Heritage Hall in Tazewell, VA for these past two months of special care.
