Ray Cheyney Cox, 58, of Mooresville, NC, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 15th, 2024. He was born on September 30, 1966, in Alleghany County, NC, to the late Tish Cox.
Ray's life was one of deep faith, love, commitment, and service to his family, friends, and community. Ray was a devoted husband to his wife, Julie, and a loving father to their daughter, Zoe. He was also a foster parent to eight children, a testament to his compassionate heart to make a difference in the lives of others. His dedication to others extended beyond his own family, as he was an active member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Davidson, NC. There, Ray worked with the Youth program, the Awana Club, and participated annually in World Changers, where he touched many young lives with his kindness, faith, and wisdom.
Ray's passion for life was evident in all that he did. He loved attending Wake Forest football games, playing Rook, golfing, and enjoying basketball and fishing with friends. Those who knew him will remember his infectious smile, quick wit, and the many jokes he shared that brightened the days of everyone around him. Above all, Ray's greatest love was for the Lord, his family, and his many friends. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Ray is preceded in death by his mother, Tish Cox, his brother, Clayvan Cox, and father-in-law, Ander Cox. Left to cherish Ray's memory are his beloved wife, Julie Cox; daughter, Zoe Cox; mother-in-law, Martha Cox; brothers-in-law, David Cox (Carla), Donny Cox (Martha J), John Cox (Robin), and Douglas Cox (Shannon); special cousins, Peggy and Dudley Hartsog; as well as ten nieces and nephews and eight great-nieces and nephews.
