Jean Pearson Obituary

Jean V. Pearson
My lovely wife, Jean Pearson, died peacefully at StoryPoint Midland from a six-year battle with Alzheimer's disease on November 3, 2025. We met on a blind date set up by my sister in August of 1965. We married fourteen months later. We celebrated our 59th wedding anniversary on October 1st and she never changed from being that cute, charming, caring, kind person who loved to laugh that I met that warm August night.
During those early days of our life together, she graduated from the Minnesota School of Business secretarial curriculum. Our life wasn't destined to stay in Minnesota and we found our way to Midland in August 1970 arriving with our two-year-old daughter, Kristine, and then adding Matthew who was born six months later completing our family of four. As it turned out, Midland was an ideal place to live and raise a family. We found great schools and our children attended Adams, Jefferson, and Dow High School. Every fun activity imaginable can be found in Midland and we loved living here and raising our family. Our children went on to graduate from Michigan State University, marry and have children. As Jean would tell you, there is nothing better than having grandchildren and she loved being a grandma. She loved her children, Kristine Rang and Matthew Pearson (Mala) and her six grandchildren Alex (Lia), Zach, Isabel and Seth Rang and Jasil and Sajal Pearson without reserve. Spending time with them was what she loved most in the world.
Jean worked as a secretary in the mental health area for many years but later found her favorite job working as an administrative assistant at Plymouth Elementary with the Midland Public Schools. She loved her work at Plymouth, thriving daily on the challenges of a very busy elementary school and all of the children who passed through every day and throughout the years.
Jean loved her life in Midland. She was an avid seamstress sewing her wedding dress, quilts, and her children's clothing through the years. After retirement, she began race walking in local SK events and won the female Master's race-walking group twice leaving many younger women and men well behind her in the races. In one race I felt somebody moving up alongside of me and suddenly heard a familiar voice, "It's just me, honey," as she slid quietly by me.
Jean will always be remembered for her kind, caring, and compassionate heart, whose laugh will be remembered by many. A life filled with our children, grandchildren and many friends throughout the years in Midland made for a remarkable life. That August night blind date made me into one very lucky man and I will dearly miss her!
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the United Church of Christ, 4100 Chestnut Hill Drive, Midland, Michigan, at 2 p.m. Visitation with family will be offered from 1:00 to 1:50 p.m. Following the service, join us for coffee, cookies, and conversation in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to your favorite charity service in Midland.

Don, Kristine and Matthew, I am deeply sorry and sad to hear about your loss. The Pearson family was one of many outstanding families I had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know at Adams School. Jean was always such a nice and supportive parent. She will be severely missed by all who knew her. My heartfelt condolences to all of Jean´s family and friends.

I doubt you'll remember me, Don. I worked with Jean at Midland Mental Health Center, when it was in the trailer outside the hospital. I was the front desk receptionist and I remember Jean very well, as she worked in the back office as a secretary. I remember going to lunch with her a few times, and at least once at your home. Jean was very friendly and had a good sense of humor.
I'm sorry to hear of her passing...I only wish I'd known she was here in Midland all of this time.

Don, I am so sorry for the loss of your precious soulmate. I treasure the fun memories we had when we were in the gourmet group with you, Zadras and Mischleys. Of course, the one where we laughed the most was when Jean made Turkey Mole. I have pleasant memories of many of our walks after those filling meals. I know you will miss her, but I pray you sense God's comfort as you treasure the memories you made together.

Dear Don, You probably don´t remember me from many years ago at the Courthouse, but I remember you well and certainly remember Jean. When I saw her photo in the obits, I said, "Oh, no" out loud. She was lovely and funny. Reading your sweet tribute made me wish she had been my friend-we had a lot in common. Please know you and your family are in my thoughts and players.
