William Fletcher Obituary

William Fletcher, 89, of Blakely died Monday at home, surrounded by his family. He and his wife, the former Carolyn White, celebrated 60 years of marriage on Aug. 31.

Born Aug. 2, 1934, to Walter and Marion Miller Fletcher, he was raised in Carbondale and Greenfield Twp. A graduate of Greenfield High School and proud United States Air Force veteran, Bill retired from Richard Toyota after 25 years as Parts Department Manager. He was a member of Blakely Primitive Methodist Church, having served many years as Station Steward.

Bill loved being in his basement workshop and especially enjoyed repairing lawnmowers in his retirement. Bill was a friend to all he met and known for his razor-sharp wit and devilish grin. Above all else, he was a true family man, always putting everyone's needs before his own.

Surviving are daughters, Diane (Mike) Longo, Donna Fultano, Marlene (Robb) Shepard and Becky (David) DePrato; grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Pete) Biles, Kristen (John) Allen, Brooke (Nick Moon) Ezzo, Alexandria and Gianna Palumbo, David III and Olivia DePrato; great-grandsons, Camden Biles and Ryder Allen; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves behind his cat, Felix, who never left his side throughout his illness.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandy; grandson, Nicholas William DePrato; mother-in-law, Lucille Horrocks; and sisters, Elizabeth Williams and Marian Swindlehurst.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 53 Glenmaura National Blvd., Suite 120, Moosic, PA 18507.

The funeral will be Saturday at 4 p.m. in the Robert E. Decker Funeral Home, 702 River St., Peckville, with services by Rev. Dale Murrell, pastor of the Blakely Primitive Methodist Church. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 2 p.m. until time of service.
