James Murray Obituary

MURRAY, James Patrick, affectionately known as Jim, Dad, Mr. Murray, Grumps, and Dumps, departed his life's leg of his journey on September 28th at the age of 86 - completely at ease knowing the love of his life and his centering other half will finally receive the sole spotlight that shone on them as a team - usually because he had said or done something inappropriate for which she would have to make amends.

Along with the love he had for Barbara, affectionately known as Mom, Mrs. Murray, and Dubbie, was the love he had for the rest of his family: daughter, Cameron M. McLeod; son, Derek Murray and his wife Suzanne; daughter, Kiera M. Pridgen and her husband Chip; and 9 grandchildren: Sean, Bret, and Kyle McLeod, Wyatt, Walker, and Carson Murray, and Ella, Charlie, and Oliver Pridgen.

The scope of his extended family was vast. The love and admiration for his nephews and nieces was steadfast. He considered each of his friends, his children's friends, and grandchildren's friends family as well. His gentle and sensitive soul was shielded by a strong, keen sense of humor that broke down all barriers and made strangers into admirers instantly.

The family finds solace in knowing all the amazing souls on the other side with whom he is now reunited. There is no doubt the next leg of his journey will be more amazing because of his time here. There will be a gathering in the near future where memories will be shared. If you are interested in attending, please reach out to anyone in the family for details.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like any donations to be made in his honor to At Home Care & Hospice - as they are the true angels on Earth. His final request was that you pick up a tennis racquet, play or watch a match, grab some peanuts, pop open a cold beer, and raise a toast to him.

Dear Barbara - I was saddened to learn of Jim's passing. Jim was a great friend and was instrumental in getting me involved with tennis/Avalon when i moved here in 1987. My thoughts and prayers are with you and family during these difficult days Bill Koehler

Although I knew Cameron at Maybeury through high school , I didn´t really know her parents until we both had kids - all boys- & they were often at Avalon when I was with my boys. It´s been quite a while but I always remember them both very easy to talk to and having so much fun with their grandsons!!
Having wonderful parents is such a blessing, but certainly makes it that much harder on the heart once they are gone.
