Lewis Rash Obituary

RASH, Lewis Ryland Jr., Lewis Ryland Rash, Jr., 100, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 3, 2023, in South Hill, VA. He graduated from Richmond Polytechnic Institute (VCU) and was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Jane Lucy and his parents, Lewis Ryland Rash and Grace Faison Rash, and his sister, Jane Burt Matthews. He was a retired Postmaster of LaCrosse from 1950-1983. He was also a WWII veteran having served in Germany. He was a member of the American Legion Post 79 and was the oldest, living commander. He was also a member of the LaCrosse Ruritan Club. Surviving are his children, Lewis Ryland Rash, III and wife, Nina Crowder of South Hill and Laura Jane Rash of LaCrosse; brother, Jackson Rash of Union, S.C. Sisters-in-Law, Christine L. Tanner of LaCrosse and Nancy L. Williams of Richmond; two grandchildren, Kalyn E. Horne and husband, Russell of Bracey and John Alan Rash and wife, Holly, of Apex, NC. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Anna Claire Rash and Lucy Mae Horne.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 5, 2023 in LaCrosse Cemetery, at 11 a.m.
