Teri Cosentino Obituary

Modesto, California - Louise (Teri) Cosentino, 106, passed away Monday, December 2, 2024 at Casa de Modesto from natural causes.
She was born a twin on August 11, 1918, in Gustine, CA to Vincenzo James and Maria Francesca (Frangelli) Cosentino, Italian immigrants who settled in the Central Valley of California. Teri was one of 13 children. She is survived by her youngest sister Pauli Hagen Modesto, CA. And seventeen nieces and nephews, many of whom she helped raise and loved by all.  She is preceded in death by her siblings Pat Cosentino, Nick Cosentino, Sue Cosentino, Henry Cosentino (her twin), Rose Casteel, Herman Cosentino, Tony Cosentino, Arthur Cosentino, Alfred Cosentino, Delma Summers, Jean Cosentino and two nieces Joni Casteel Cowdin and Janine Casteel Ceci.

Teri was a smart, talented and competitive student at Gustine High School. She acted in plays, was a member of the Drill Team, Sewing Club and an incredible athlete! She played softball not only for the High School, but for teams in Gustine, Modesto, Stockton and Hollywood after graduation. She was sought after by the pros but that was interrupted by WWII.    She joined her brothers and enlisted in the Navy as one of the first WAVES. Teri was stationed in a small town just outside of Washington DC where she was engaged in doing secret military work for the government War Department.

In the 1940’s she was also a professional singer, known as “Teri Anderson”.  She worked for Union Pacific Railroad most of her adult life in San Bernadino, Southern California where she lived until retirement at which time she returned to Gustine to be with family.  She was an excellent golfer and avid walker, an incredible cook who taught her family and friends how to make sausage, roasted peppers, tadadies and pasta around her fabulous table. She was also a member and leader of the Lady of Miracles, Catholic Daughters.

Teri lived an abundant, meaningful and long life from beginning to end, she was confident and generous and yet one of the humblest human beings. She touched many of our lives and will be greatly missed by all.

We are eternally grateful for the kindness and compassion shown to our sweet “Aunt Teri” by the entire staff at Casa de Modesto as well as Noble Hospice. “The Heart Remembers” and we will remember each of you, thank you.

Services honoring her life will be held on Tuesday, December 17th at Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles, 370 Linden Ave., Gustine. A viewing will be at 9:30-11 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am.

Interment following at Hills Ferry Cemetery, 1334 Stuhr Road in Newman.
