LUTHER (LUKE) SPOONER, JR. Obituary

Luther (Luke) Edwin Spooner, Jr. passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at his residence.  Luke was born on February 9, 1948, to Luther and Martha Nell Garwood Spooner.  He attended Seminole County Schools and was active in 4-H and FFA, showing cattle competitively.  Luke was the kicker for the Seminole County Football team throughout his high school career and graduated in 1966.

After graduation, Luke attended the University of Georgia where he earned a bachelor's degree in Animal Science in 1970.  Upon returning home, Luke began a 50-year career in the cattle business, where he wore many different hats, from cattle procurement to owning and operating the Seminole Livestock Exchange.  Luke loved to fish, cook, and hang out with his circle of friends!

Luke is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Debbie Spooner; his children, Susanne Clearman (Todd), Luke Spooner III (Whitney), Mimi Burchfield (Kevin), Laura Croom, and Jennifer Suydan (Craig); and his cherished grandchildren, Colton and Logan Clearman, Lizzy Woodruff, Jenni Dortch (Seth), John Burchfield, and Emilee Nunnery; as well as his siblings, Gary Spooner (Jill), Wade Spooner (Lauren), and Nancy Spooner.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Edwin Spooner, Sr.

Funeral services for Luke Spooner will be held Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church of Donalsonville, Georgia with Reverend Stephen Webb.  Serving as pallbearers will be Emmitt "Cookie" Fain, Charles Tabb Lane, Mills Hornsby, Davis Dozier, Colton Clearman, and Ben Spooner II.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Houston Ground Angels, 1306 Briar Bayou Drive, Houston, Texas 77077-2002; First Presbyterian Church of Donalsonville, GA, P.O.
