Fischetti, Charles Joseph
ALBANY - Charles Joseph Fischetti, age 73 of Albany, married to Michael Chalmers, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, in St. Peter's Hospital Comfort Care unit.
Born on November 21, 1949, in Mineola, Long Island, he was the son of the late Charles and Cecilia (Grimaldi) Fischetti.
Charles graduated from H. Carey High School in Elmont, N.Y. in 1967 and from SUNY Albany with a B.A. in history in 1972. After college Charles moved to San Francisco for six months before returning to Albany. Upon his return, he worked in the State Comptroller's office until 1979. In 1978, he met Michael and they subsequently moved to New York City where he worked for the Division of Housing and Community Renewal from 1979 and then for the N.Y.S. Housing Finance Agency and The State of New York Mortgage Agency in New York City from 1980 until 2009 retiring as senior vice president and chief information officer.
Charles enjoyed the company and sharing of travel experiences with his husband, family and friends. Art, architecture, food and even walking through various neighborhoods here and abroad gave him a tremendous source of pleasure. Family and friends will remember Charles for his playful sense of humor.
He is survived by his husband, Michael, and several cousins residing on Long Island, Italy in Europe, and a host of dear family and friends from across the country. In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by his brother, Frank Fischetti.
