Darrin Powell Obituary

Powell, Darrin
ALBANY - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear beloved Darrin W. Powell, 42, on November 10, 2024, being the first-born son of Linda Powell, and the late Clayton Powell. He filled our lives with love from the moment he came into the world with his intelligence and uncanny wit. He left our family too soon and we already miss him immensely. Darrin endured many years of serious health issues. He continuously fought with courage and humor throughout his shortened life. He was an amazing person who taught us to appreciate life and live it to the fullest. He is survived by his mother, Linda (Shutts) Powell, Albany; brother, David Powell, Stuyvesant, N.Y.; beloved pet and constant companion, Riley; and an extended family of aunts and uncles, each being a pivotal part of his life: Sandi (Nelson) Sager – Darrin particularly enjoyed all the wonderful meals and awesome care for Riley; Teresa (Kevin) Beiter – the visits and enjoying a cruise of a lifetime to Alaska; Mary (David) Allen – the beautiful custom-built live edge river tables and family gatherings; Tami Myers – lively conversations with loads of laughs during our weekly dinners. In addition to his aunts and uncles, Darrin is also survived by many cousins, Terri (Scott) Haigh, Ron Jr. (Lisa) Plass, Patrick and James (Melissa) Clark, Paul and Marissa Myers, and Paige, Stuart and Spencer (Camille) Allen.
The Powell family would like to thank all of those who helped Darrin and the family through his long and complicated illnesses, especially in the past few months. Your support has meant the world to us.
Special appreciation to Lenny White for his caring and thoughtful nightly phone calls to check on Darrin; and much appreciation for Darrin's Doula, Christie Armstrong. Many thanks and appreciation to all the doctors, nurses, and staff for their care over the years, especially Dr. Muhammad Pasha and his staff. Darrin wanted to especially express his appreciation to his brother, Dave for their time together, loyalty, brotherly support and football games; to his Aunt Tami, for the weekly visits, dinners, laughter and making him know how important he was.
The Celebration of Life will be a private family occasion to be scheduled later. In lieu of flowers, please donate in memory of Darrin to his favorite charity, Gary Senise Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports veterans, first responders and their families.

Darrin,

Although I remember your health issues the most, I cannot thank you enough for the company and friendship you gave to me during our younger years. We have had so many good times together and I´ll always remember and treasure the memories we shared. Although I´m in such shock seeing this, I know God must have had a better plan for you. My condolences to your mom, brother, cousin´s Jim, Pat and all the rest. May you RIP bud, I hope to see you again one day.
