Dorothy Currier Obituary

Currier, Dorothy H.
ALBANY - Dorothy H. Currier, wife of the late Joseph Currier, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2024, at Shaker Place Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, in Albany, N.Y.
Born on January 17, 1927, in Mineville, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Sarah Haseltine (Stimpson).
Dorothy graduated from high school in 1944 and then attended Albany Business College. She went to work for the Department of Veteran Affairs, in Albany, N.Y., and married Joseph Currier, on October 1, 1949. Together, they would have two sons, Kevin and David, born in Glens Falls, N.Y. After the family's return to Albany, she was employed by the South Colonie School District, from 1973 – 2000.
Dorothy was a beautiful and gentle soul that loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved being outdoors and going for walks in the Crossings Park of Colonie. She also exercised at the gym regularly until she was in her mid-to- late 80s. She loved traveling with her family and watching baseball and football. Dorothy was an avid reader and also enjoyed baking and working on puzzles and crafts with her dear friend, Sandy. She also liked having a glass of wine, while watching old black and white movies on YouTube and FaceTimed with her family daily.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; and brother, Earl "Bud" (Joan) Haseltine.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Kevin (Susanne) and David (Leah); grandson, Brandon (Caitlyn); and several step-grandchildren; her brother, Ronald Haseltine (Joan) of Mineville, N.Y.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Shaker Please Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the loving- kindness, care and attention they have shown to Dorothy over the last several months as she was beset by more and more limitations in her daily life.
Dorothy will be laid to rest alongside her husband at a private interment in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, in the Spring of 2024.

Dear Kevin and David, I have miss having your mom as my neighbor. My daughters and I would wonder from time to time how she was doing. They were both sad to hear that she has passed away. She was a part of their daily life both at home and at Shaker Road. Take comfort in your family memories and the fact that you were there for mom even when you no longer lived in this area. florence Abrams

Dottie was a kind and gentle soul that I had the pleasure of working with at Shaker Road Elementary School. She always brightened my day with her smile. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who deeply loved her family. RIP Dottie.

Dottie was a wonderful lady! She was my secretary at Shaker Road from 1997 until she retired. She had so much spirit and was always so great to talk to . I hope she rests in peace!
