Karen Hynes Obituary

Hynes, Karen
TROY - Karen Hynes, 85, of Troy, entered into eternal life on Friday January 26, 2024, at the Eddy Memorial Center, Troy, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Saebe, Denmark, she was the daughter of the late Christian and Ninna Gronborg; and the beloved wife of the late Frank J. Hynes.
As a young girl in Denmark, Karen enrolled in a nursing program, where she successfully completed her studies. Upon completion, she traveled across Europe, where she met her soulmate, Frank, and in 1961, while still in Denmark, they married. Starting a family, they decided to move to the U.S., so in 1963, they settled back in Frank's hometown of Troy, N.Y., where they made many wonderful memories. During their time together they made many friends and traveled the globe.
Karen enjoyed cooking, reading, antiquing and, most of all, spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Chris and Darcy Hynes, and Eric Hynes and Kirsten Hynes. She is the loving grandmother of Andrew (Makenzie) Hynes, Connor and Patrick Hynes and Hayley Baker. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Arnes Gronborg. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Hynes; along with several nieces and nephews, both in the U.S. and in Denmark.
Family will gather on Wednesday at 9 a.m., in the Wm. Leahy Funeral Home, Troy. A brief service will be held at 10 a.m., followed by a committal service at 12 noon, in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Karen's memory would be appreciated, and may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1003 New Loudon Rd., Unit 201, Cohoes, N.Y. 12047.
