On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, Paul Edwin "Ed" Herrera, kind and caring son, brother, uncle, and friend passed away at the age of 60.
Ed was born in 1964 in Albuquerque to Claude and Mary-Alice Herrera. After graduating from Moriarty High School, Ed served in the United States Army and later attended The Art Center. By profession, Ed was a sign media technician at M&J Signs for many years and ran the media portion of the sign shop. Ed highly revered his coworkers and considered them family.
Ed was a naturally-talented artist who created beauty with every endeavor. He was skilled at drawing, painting, and sculpting. He played guitar and enjoyed listening to all genres of music. He was also an avid chess player. Ed's sense of discovery motivated him to lead an active life and maintain a passion for enjoying the outdoors. As a young man, Ed always brought his faithful pup, Bones, to accompany him on adventures. His love for all creatures spanned his lifetime. He enjoyed fishing excursions, skateboarding, and riding one of his many mountain bikes. Ed had a wonderful sense of humor and delighted in making others laugh. Ed's vast knowledge, creativity and resourcefulness enabled him to fix anything that needed fixing. He humbly shared his expertise to help anyone in need and was happiest when he was helping others.
Ed was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. Our beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend will be profoundly and forever missed. Ed was preceded in death by his father, Claude, his brother, Steve, and his beloved dog, Bones. Ed is survived by his mother, Mary-Alice; his sister, Pamela, his nephews, Dominik and Alex, and many friends and family members.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, 9:00 a.m., at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 9502 4th Street NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114. A celebration of life will follow at the American Legion Post 69, 9000 4th Street NW, Albuquerque NM 87114.
