ALBANY - Robert Malcolm Davis, 92, entered into eternal rest on January 23, 2024, at The Community at Rockhill in Sellersville, Pa., after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his family. Bob was born on April 7, 1931, in Albany, N.Y., the son of Howard and Lina Davis. Bob resided in Round Lake, N.Y., for 51 years with his wife, Marie, before moving to The Community at Rockhill, after her death, in 2021.
Bob was a proud husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Throughout his 67 years of marriage to Marie, Bob loved woodworking, bowling and gardening, but his true passion was his family. Bob worked as a Rural Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, for over 30 years. He was a dedicated volunteer for the North Chatham as well as the Round Lake baseball programs and spent many years in service as a volunteer EMT for the Malta Ambulance Corps. Together with his wife, Bob taught Sunday school and was a counselor for the United Methodist Youth Fellowship program at the North Chatham Methodist church and then later at the Round Lake United Methodist Church. Bob served in the Navy as an aviation machinist's mate in Pensacola, Fla., and San Diego, Calif., and before that was an amateur boxer.
Bob is survived by his four children, Debbie Ward and her husband, Keith of Wilmington, N.C., Bob Davis and his wife, Shawn of Telford, Pa., Curt Davis and his wife, Alice of Spencer, Mass., and Jeff Davis and his wife, Sharon of Warwick, N.Y. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Cheri Ward (Adam Suchodolski), Kevin Ward (Claire), Jessica Davis (Eric Shea), Karstie Burgess (Chris), Katie Lemieux (Christian), Mark Davis (Samara), Laura Davis, Hannah Davis and Sarah Davis. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Lev, Ethan and Lilly. He is survived by one sister, Carol Pinkowski; and two brothers, Ron Davis and Charles Davis; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marie Gagnon Davis; his granddaughter, Stephanie Ward; his brothers, Paul and Martin Davis; and his sister, Jean Altomer.
Visitation will be held at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham, N.Y., on February 17, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed by a chapel service at the funeral home. A graveside prayer service and interment will take place immediately after, at the North Chatham Cemetery, Route 32 near the intersection of 203, in North Chatham, N.Y. Condolences may be conveyed at
