Joyce L. Smale

Joyce L. Smale, 95, of Stroudsburg, passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, at St. Luke's Hospital-Bethlehem.

She was the loving wife of the late Warren A. Smale. They spent 64 wonderful years of marriage together before his passing in 2012.

Born in Kunkletown, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Smith and the late Beulah (Borger) Smith.

Joyce was a lifelong member of St. Matthew's UCC in Kunkletown. She was a garment mill worker for many years. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and feeding the birds.

Joyce also loved playing cards, especially Haus and Skat, with her friends and family. She always enjoyed spending quality time with her husband, Warren. They would go square dancing, camping and traveling the country together to numerous places over the years.

Most of all, she was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, mother-in-law and friend.

She will be deeply missed by all her friends and family.

She is survived by a son, Larry Smale; two daughters, Barbara Kuntzman, Tammy Snyder and her husband Randall; nine grandchildren, Tina, Corey, Michelle, Ricky Jr., Kyle, Bradley, Billy, Melissa, Branden; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Marlene Smale; a brother, Luther Smith; a sister, Irene Kleintop; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Smale, and a son-in-law, Ricky Kuntzman Sr.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, Sept. 5, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Matthew's UCC in Kunkletown.

Service: Church services will follow at 11 a.m., with Rev. Michael Coulson officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Kunkletown.
