Raymond Dugan Obituary

Raymond 'Duffy' Dugan

Raymond "Duffy" Dugan, 79, of White Haven, sustained fatal injuries in an automobile accident on September 14, 2023.

Born in Lehighton March 18, 1944, he was the son of the late Clarence and Helen Dugan.

Duffy was a veteran of the United States Army and received a Marksman Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. He was a firefighter for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation, and an entrepreneur following the closing of the Bethlehem Steel Plant.

Duffy devoted his life to his family; he was joined at the heart to his wife, Mary Ellen, for nearly 50 years, and was a loving and devoted father to his children, Ryan and Caitlin.

He forever will be remembered for his unconditional and unwavering love, loyalty, sense of humor, and complete unselfishness. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the good fortune of knowing him.

Duffy and his family made many treasured memories that will last a lifetime, including ski vacations, visits to national parks across the US, waterfall hikes, and experiencing the excitement of Las Vegas.

He loved spending time at "The Lakehouse" on Lake Harmony, where countless happy moments were created. He was an avid skier, a motorsports enthusiast, and he loved playing pinochle. Above all else he cherished spending time with his friends and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife, Mary Ellen (Mooney), a son, Ryan Dugan and fiance, Nicollette Scheitrum, and a daughter, Caitlin Dugan and spouse, Jenn Simons. Also surviving are a brother, Hugh and wife, Margaret (McHugh) Dugan, sisters, Kathleen (Dugan) Tibenski, Rosemary Dugan, and many nieces and nephews,

Duffy's family will host a Remembrance Service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the McHugh-Wilczek Funeral Home, 249 Centre Street, Freeland. Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, at the funeral home, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
