Russell Sholl Obituary

Russell John Sholl, age 85, of Elkton, MD, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Born in Bryn Mawr, PA on March 2, 1940, he was the son of the late Paul and Rosena Walker Davis.

Mr. Sholl retired after 26 years as an automotive mechanic for the State of Maryland Maintenance 2, a career that suited him well, he was known as someone who could fix just about anything.

Outside of work, Mr. Sholl found joy in time spent outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing, appreciating the quiet satisfaction that came with time spent in nature. He cherished special moments with his family and enjoyed word puzzles. In his younger years, Mr. Sholl had a passion for drag racing, embracing both the challenge and excitement it brought.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Dolores Dowdell Sholl; children, Matthew Sholl (Kathy), and Dana Bell (David), both of Elkton, MD; and granddaughters, Haley and Hannah Bell.

Prayer service will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Elkton, MD.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or to, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (Attn: Memorial Giving) in care of the funeral home at the above address.
