Hilda Stotler Obituary

Hilda (Bellan) Stotler, 97, a resident of Concordia Villa of St. Joseph, in Baden, formerly of Jeannette, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024, after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Hilda was a coalminers daughter, born April 9, 1927, in Yukon, to Croatian parents, the late John and Mary Persin Bellan. She worked at Westinghouse Air Brake, in Turtle Creek, before marrying and raising her family in Jeannette. Hilda enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing, and making ravioli for her family, and she was an avid walker. Hilda was a devout Catholic and longtime member of the Ascension Church Jeannette, where she was a Eucharistic Minister, participated in the annual St. Anthony Novena, belonged to the Rosary Altar Society, and worked tirelessly at the annual Italian Festival. She was also a joyful volunteer at St. Emma's Monastery in Greensburg. Hilda truly lived her Catholic faith, putting others before herself, with nothing but kind words and generosity for those she encountered. In addition to her parents, Hilda was predeceased by her husband, Norman C. Stotler in 1995; sisters, Mary Cuda, and Barbara Scalise; brothers, John and Joseph Bolkovac, and Michael and Rudy Bellan. She was the caring, devoted mother of William Stotler (Karen), Cheryl Brady (Ken), and Marietta Crum (Bruce); loving grandmother of Melissa Brady, Amy Ciulla (Tony), Maggie Kate Atkins (George), Rachel Casey (John), Mary Frances Stotler (Brent Bausser), Christie Crum (Sean McQuaide), and Kelly Crum (Marc Henderson; and seven great-grandchildren. There will be no public visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend Hilda's Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, in the Ascension Church, with Fr. Job Foote, OSB, as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Twp.
