John Glovier Obituary

John D. Glovier, Sr., 85, of Acme, passed away on Oct. 23, 2024. John was born in Clarion County on Jan. 22, 1939, to R.C. and Grace Glovier. He grew up in Lower Burrell and was a 1957 graduate of Arnold High School, later living in Allegheny Township. John worked for a Chevrolet dealership, where he was a talented mechanic and salesman. Eventually, he worked in the steel manufacturing industry for Epic Metals Corp. in Rankin, PA, for over 30 years as the Vice President of Manufacturing before retiring. John was a devoted Christian and Elder for Trinity United Church of Christ, formerly in New Kensington, and Elder for Trinity United Christian Church. He was instrumental in starting the Group Recycling in Pennsylvania (GRIP) program in the New Kensington area. His dedication to conservation and the environment continued for many years as he volunteered for clean-up projects around Shenango Lake. John was interested in cleaning up the environment and was a member of the Rural Area Concerned Citizens (RACC) and the Mountain Watershed Association. He enjoyed camping, fishing, bike riding, and splitting wood. He also enjoyed traveling with his family, especially trips to the Outer Banks, NC, and Alaska. John is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Elaine (Gray) Glovier; daughter, Sue (Michael) Green; and sons, John Glovier, Jr. and Thomas (Jessie) Glovier; daughter-in-law, Julie Glovier; granddaughter, Caroline Green; and loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, R.C. and Grace Glovier; sisters, Janice Glovier and Mary Kubiak; brothers, Robert Glovier and William Glovier; brothers-in-law, Lauren Gray and Gerard Kubiak; and sister-in-law, Sandra Allman. John's family would like to express sincere thanks to their neighbors for all the garage get-togethers, bonfires, great conversations, and for their unending help and support. Friends will be received from 5 p.m. until time of Memorial Funeral Service at 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 1, by The Rev. Dr. Cletus Hull at THE RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road at Alder St. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to Mountain Water Watershed Association, P.O.
