Norval Pooler Obituary

Norval Gene Pooler

September 1, 1939 - October 25, 2024

Pasco, Washington - The family is sad to announce the passing of Norval Gene Pooler Oct 25th at 7am. Norval spent 78 years as a Tri-Citian where he attended Pasco High School. After High School Norval joined the Navy where he served as a Seabee, serving in the Aleutian Islands, Guam and the Philippines. After the Navy he went to work for Boise Cascade at Wallula where he retired after 33 ½ years as a Millwright. After his retirement, Norval moved to Fernwood Idaho to live out his dream of building his own home and living in the mountains where the hunting and fishing was rich, and life was much slower. He often joked that the biggest excitement in Fernwood was when the local Restaurant got a new screen door, which became the topic of discussion all over town. In 2015 Norval and his wife Sheila returned to the Tri Cities to be closer to his family and to live out the remainder of his days surrounded by three sisters, one brother and his son Shane, his wife Terri and their children who lived locally. Last year Norval's daughter Shawna moved back from Santa Idaho to help take care of him and his wife where she remained at his side until his death.

Norval will be remembered as a gifted singer, entertainer, a loyal friend, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, and a man who lived out his strong faith in Christ. His smile will be missed along with that jovial laugh. His kindness and caring for others will be a loss to everyone that knew him.

Norval was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Rhea Pooler, 4 brothers, Deloy Pooler, Merton Pooler and Russell and Bob Pooler. 2 sisters, Wanda Ashworth and Ernestine Bumpous. 2 sons, Darrell and Douglas Pooler.

He leaves behind his lovely wife Sheila Pooler of 38 years, her son Jeff Stremcha and his wife Sabrina, 3 sisters, Peggy Anderson, Rama Tramel, and Judy McGuire and her husband Charlie McGuire, 2 brothers, Doyle Pooler, his wife Charlene and David Pooler. 2 children, Shane Pooler, his wife Terri, Shawna Ahonen and her husband Jason. 11 grandchildren, Thomas Clayton, Mike Clayton and his wife Sarah, Brian Clayton, Heidi Reeves, Dustin Pooler, Sierra Scroggins and her husband Dylan, Shane, Larina, Ashley, Tanner, Lacy and Katelyn. 12 great grandchildren. Along with countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. 8 And now the prize awaits me-the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.

Services will be held on November 9, 2024 @ The Highway Church of God, 2715 W 7th Ave. Kennewick WA 99352. Start time will be 11am. A graveside service with honors will follow and a reception will be held back at the church immediately following the graveside service, all are welcome to attend.

My Condolences go out to the family. Norval was always a good guy, fun to work with. He was one person if you saw him after he retired always had the time to chat. I'm glad he found a nice quiet place like Idaho to enjoy retirement. His deep laugh and good humor will be missed.
