LYNETTE BRAU Obituary

LYNETTE BRAU The funeral service for Lynette Brau, 74, of Marshall, formerly of Lucan, will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lucan. A recording of the service will be available later at www.horvathfuneralservice.com. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service and a funeral luncheon will follow the service. Interment will take place at Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery in Redwood Falls at 2 p.m. Lynette Faye (Donner) Brau was born on November 28, 1949, in Tracy to Kenneth and Leona (Hult) Donner. She grew up in Lucan where she attended grade school then graduated from Milroy High School. Lynette was a member of the charter class at the then Southwest Minnesota State College, now Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall. In 1970, Lynette was united in marriage to Dale Brau at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan. They were blessed with three children: Trevor, Dustin, and Brady. The couple raised their boys in the Lucan area, before settling into a home across the street from Trinity Lutheran Church. Lynette was very involved in her community. She served on the City Council of Lucan, including a short stint as interim mayor. She volunteered at the school and Trinity Lutheran Church. Lynette was on the church council for many years and also served as church council president. When her children were young, the family enjoyed camping. Lynette also enjoyed painting ceramics, playing cards, gardening, and reading. Lynette especially loved being with family and friends. She spent time with family however she could, even if that meant having to work. Lynette was a homemaker while her children were young, then she spent 30 years working with Trevor at Minnesota Valley Communications. She also picked hops for the brewery in Lucan with her mother, Leona. The family spent lots of time together at the lake home. Later in life, Lynette and Dale moved to Marshall to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Lynette died on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at her residence in Marshall, surrounded by family under the care of hospice. She is survived by her husband Dale; sons Trevor (Joe Lee), Dustin (Mary), and Brady (Kate); grandchildren Aaron, Amber, Ethan, Sandra (Henry), Eli, Orin, Ray, and Elizabeth; great-grandchildren Oliver, Brynlee, and Patrick; sisters Linda (Denny) Gilb and Paulette (Kevin) Kosel; as well as many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother in infancy. Arrangements with Horvath Funeral Service, Marshall. www.horvathfuneralservice.com.
