William BOITZ Obituary

Age 81 of So. St. Paul, MN Passed away December 14, 2023 peacefully at home surrounded by family. Bill was born June 28, 1942 in Ely, MN to William and Mary Boitz. After graduating from Ely High, he attended Ely Jr. College, transferring to Bemidji State University where he obtained his bachelors degree in elementary education. On June 3, 1967 he married the love of his life, Diane (Fulgham) in Biwabik, MN. Together they settled in So. St. Paul where they built a life filled with love, happiness, and memories with their family. Bill will be remembered for his dedication to education and making everyone he met feel special. He exemplified strength and resilience and his work ethic surpassed that of any other. Coaching was another highlight of his career creating many favorable memories. Another joy was his love of truck driving, which he did throughout his life. There wasn't a truck he could not handle, and he took advantage of all opportunities to foster this passion. The lifelong friends he gained were most treasured. Bill is survived by his wife Diane; daughters Michele (Matt) Purdy, Nichole (Bill Muhvich) Boitz, and Melissa (Scott) Magnuson; grandchildren Hannah, Noah, Emma, Olivia, Sophia, Lydia, Austin, and Abby; great grandchildren Owen and Isla; siblings James Boitz and Nancy (Lyle) Alexson. Bill very proudly donated his body to the University of Minnesota continuing his teaching legacy. We would like to thank the medical staff at U of M Fairview for their compassionate care, with a special thanks to Dr Lynn Burmeister and Dr Amit Kulkarni.
