Steve Muzzy Obituary

Steve Muzzy

Las Vegas, NV - Steve passed peacefully on January 30th, 2025 after a short illness in Las Vegas, NV. Growing up a 50's kid in Lebanon, he was busy with family, friends, school and sports, culminating in graduation from Lebanon High (Class of '71).

With a urge to see the world, he enlisted in the USMC retiring in 1992 with 22 years of active service that included Vietnam. After retiring, he began a second career with the Defense Finance and Accounting Service to include Director of the Retired Pay Call Center (Cleveland, OH) and Director of Accounts Payable (Yokota AB, Japan) retiring in 2013. When not working, Steve played softball. A pitcher, he played on many international teams in Asia, particularly, the Fattboyz and Guzzlers.

Steve met his wife, Sue, in Kansas City. Raising four children, Jennifer Schoffstall, Erin Wellcome (Brett), Donald Muzzy (Yasuyo), and Elizabeth Muzzy while moving and traveling frequently, 47 years seemed to fly by. Steve and Sue retired to Las Vegas in 2013. Now with two grandchildren, Sebastian and Michi, and Lucky, the Wonder Dog, in his life, he truly felt like he had hit a homerun. We only wish he were still on 3rd base.

Steve is also survived by his sisters, Nancy (Alfred), and Susan (Andy) and his brother, David and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Don and Irma Muzzy.

A celebration of life will be held in Lebanon later this year.

My deepest sympathy to Sue and the family. I worked for Steve while he was director of retired pay call center. We became friends on the first day. He knew my name before I signed in. I thought, wow, he knows his employees. Found out he played softball with my son, Tim. Talking to Tim, found me to be working for him. A great boss and friend. Keep an eye on my grandson, Timmy. He passed on February 21st age 23. Tim's son. What a shock! Rest in peace Steve. Sue you are in my thoughts.

Steve and I played a ton of softball together while stationed at the Marine Corps Kansas City Finance Center in the mid 80s and he was a hell of a pitcher and a great friend.

My deepest sympathy to Sue and your family. Steve was one of a kind. Once you met Steve you were friends for life. I look back on the many years that Keith and I knew Steve and how our paths have crossed since the 1970s. I'm thankful that you, Steve, and I got together for a meal when I was visiting Las Vegas in 2020. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
Steve will be missed all that knew him.
