Ruth K. Saben, age 97, of Mount Vernon, WA passed away peacefully at her home on October 6, 2024.
Born on January 16, 1927, in Timber Lake, South Dakota, Ruth was the daughter of the late John and Christine Wuestewald. Ruth was the second youngest of 15 children. She spent her life dedicated to her family, and in 1975, Ruth brought her family to Mount Vernon, Washington. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Don Saben, who preceded her in death in 1999. Together, they shared over 50 years of love and companionship.
Ruth was also preceded in death by her cherished daughter, Penny Hook (Scott), who passed away in 2020. Ruth is survived by her two sons, Roger (Sandy) and Don (Teri); and her beloved grandchildren, Tammy, Roger (Molly), Rick (Kiffin), Carrie (Richard), Kathy (Lane), and Scottie (Amy). She is also survived by her many great- and great-great grandchildren.
Ruth worked for the Washington State Liquor Store for many years. Ruth was known for her warmth and kindness, always welcoming friends and family into her home. She was an avid reader and enjoyed going camping with her family. She also loved playing card games with her grandchildren. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Ruth’s loving spirit and unwavering faith will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord,
And let perpetual light shine upon her.
May she rest in peace. Amen.
There will be a funeral mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Mount Vernon on Friday October 11, 2024 at 12:15 with a burial service to follow.
