Margaret Emmet Obituary

Peggy Duane Emmet, 91, died peacefully on September 27, 2025, after a remarkable life as a business owner, sports lover, and family matriarch. Born in Philadelphia in 1934, and raised in Silver Spring, MD, with her brother Frank Duane, Peggy attended St Michael's School and the Academy of the Holy Names. With her adventurous spirit and a winking relationship with rules, Peggy played high school basketball and modeled for The Hecht Co. before getting her BA from Rosemont College in 1956. Hired as the first female sales rep in IBM's Federal District after college, she had a brief career before marrying Frank Emmet in 1957 and raising six children in Rockville. MD and Washington, DC. Peggy worked in the family real estate business for 35 years as CFO while also spearheading IT initiatives. She was an active member of the DC Association of Realtors serving on the board and in leadership roles. After retirement, she split her time between Chevy Chase and Queenstown, MD. Peggy was the consummate host for her large extended family, bringing grace and elegance to every holiday event. She was an avid tennis player, golfer, and bridge player, who taught her children to ski on local mountains and enjoy watersports on the Wye River. She organized camping trips, Ocean City beach vacations, and Vermont ski destinations without a sweat. She was a long-time member of Columbia Country Club and the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic church. She will be remembered and admired for her independent spirit.
Peggy is predeceased by her parents Kathryn and Frank J. Duane formerly of Silver Spring, MD and her brother, Franklin J. Duane. Survivors include her adoring husband, Francis X. (Frank) Emmet Jr. of Kensington, MD, and their children Eileen (Robert Gray), Kathleen (Hamid Samiy), Duane (Bonnie Reiness), Denise (Kevin Brady), Francis X. (Chip) III (Pamela Malm), and Annmarie (Larry Leadman). She also leaves behind her grandchildren Amira Samiy; Ally, Michael, and Hannah (Weston Jarnagin) Emmet; Kevin (Brianne Rafferty), Kate (Mike Blumberg), and Thomas Brady; Patrick (Grace Barry) and Camille (Tony Caporlette) Emmet; and Frances and Claire Leadman, and her great-grandchildren Caroline and Connor Brady; Leon and Roen Blumberg; and Luke Emmet. The family wishes to thank Brigid Lee Douglas, Judy Kiroga, and the staff at Modena Reserve at Kensington and Montgomery Hospice, who provided her with loving care in her final years.
Services will be held at Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, 5949 Western Ave. NW, Washington, DC on Saturday, October 25 with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

I remember "Peggy" fondly when she was working in the office at Frank Emmet Real Estate, Inc. where I started in the maintenance department on Feb 1, 1999. I soon was able to become an Assistant Property Manager and then a Property Manager. She was very supportive and taught me the ins-outs of the administrative side of property management. Peggy and her husband Frank both gave me a chance for a great career where is still work to this day. I will be ever grateful for what Peggy taught me while I had the pleasure of her presence in the office until she retired. My prayers and sincerest condolences are with all of her family and friends and may God grant her eternal life and peace.
