Dr. William Alfred Belt (Age 70)

Dr. William Belt or "Bill," as he was known to family, friends and patients, passed away at the age of 70 on January 16, 2024, after a courageous life-long battle with diabetes, ending with kidney failure and heart complications. Dr. Belt was born in Washington, DC, to Malcolm and Betty Belt on November 19, 1953. He attended Arlington, VA, Public Schools followed by a Bachelor of Science Degree from The University of Virginia (UVA), culminating with a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the Virginia Commonwealth University, Medical College of Virginia, in August 1979. Dr. Belt's first love was his patients. He proudly served the surrounding communities for 41 years. Dr. Belt's treated two-to-three generations of families. To many patients, he was not only their dentist for many years, but also a trusted friend. With his passing, Dr. Belt generously donated tissue and bone which will be used for protheses for amputees. Dr. Belt is survived by his loving-wife, Pat, of 36 years. In addition, he is mourned by his immediate Philadelphia family - Stephanie Corley (Niece), Karen Hunton (Niece), and James Phelan, (Nephew); Malcom Belt, (Nephew) Alexandria, VA, and Corrine Lusic (Niece) of Raleigh, NC. He is also loved by his Pennsylvania "Pluchinsky" family, which includes one brother-in law, eight sisters-in laws, 27 nieces, 62 great nieces and nephews, plus numerous great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral Service is on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA, from 11 a.m. 1:15 p.m. For additional details visit www.nationalfh-mp.com. Dr. Belt was my dentist for 25 years. Sad to learn of his passing. That he had so many long-term patients was a testament to the practice´s quality of care and a sincere concern for all. It was always a friendly, welcoming environment. How many can say that about a trip to the dentist? I remember his mom, Betty, and it was a pleasure to know Pat, as well. Keeping the family in my thoughts.
