I taught with Dave at Hoover Middle School. He was one of the good ones for sure.

During my freshman year at UNI, 1967-68, I lived in Baker Hall, Room 54, with three other students. The room next to ours was a single. David lived there, but he spent so much of his time in the library studying that some thought the room was vacant. His example contrasted with that of other students. Partly because of that, it made a strong impression on me, an impressionable underclassman. I'm grateful for the role model he provided.
In 1968, I attended his wedding in Newton, Iowa, made memorable by Marcia's selection of Edvard Grieg's, "Wedding Day at Troldhaugen," as one of the key musical selections. The piece seemed to launch David and Marcia on their common life and now that both have passed, every time I hear it, it seems like a perfect coda for two lives well lived.

I´m so sad reading about Dave´s passing. I taught with him at West High and thoroughly enjoyed our conversations and his observations on so many things. He was such a genuinely good man. I´m truly sorry for your loss. Rest in Peace, Dave!
