Phillip Michael Aspenwall II of Wenatchee, WA (originally of Mt. Pleasant, OH and formerly of Seattle, WA) died on Thursday, October 24, 2024 after a decades-long struggle with an unnamed neurodegenerative disease. Born April 17, 1965, he was the oldest of three children born to Phillip Michael and Sue (Bruney) Aspenwall, who both predecease him.
Phil graduated from Buckeye West High School in Mt. Pleasant in 1983 and from Carnegie Mellon University in 1987. After working for CMU for several years, he moved to Seattle to work for Microsoft as a software engineer.
Phil is survived by sisters, Amy Aspenwall and Ruth (Atsushi) Aspenwall Sato, both of Knoxville, TN; stepchildren, Max (Fernanda) Anderson of Bozeman, MT and Emma Anderson of Wenatchee; uncle, John Aspenwall of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; aunt, Kathryn Aspenwall of Raleigh, NC; and many cousins. In addition, his carer Robert Russell of Wenatchee helped Phil for many years and along the way became a dear friend. Phil was a member of the Cascade Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Wenatchee.
According to Phil's wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no official memorial ceremony.

Phil and I were the best of friends throughout high school, and for a time after. I have so many good memories of our circle of friends, and our adventures together.
Phil was a genuinely good man.
I will miss my friend. Rest easy.

My heart is broken, though I know you´re finally at peace. Over 5 decades, we became friends, best friends, and family. We shed many happy and sad tears. We grew, laughed and talked a lot. One of the best, genuine, brilliant, kind, caring and truthful gentleman that I have ever had the privilege to know. The boys, Chris and I will miss you.

I have many fond memories of Philip during our school years at Buckeye West. We attended our senior prom together! We had many laughs and "teenage angst". Prayers for all his loved ones. May he rest in peace.
