Gerald Laird Obituary

Gerald Dean Allan Laird, 75, died Monday, October 20, 2025 at his home in Pleasant Hill, Iowa with family present. Jerry was born June 11, 1950 in Lehigh, Iowa to Wesley & Mary (Slawson) Laird.
Jerry was a hard worker who took pride in a job well done. He was a vinyl siding applicator working many years for Overton Construction in Des Moines, Iowa. He loved to be outdoors, collecting marbles, coins, knives, and especially rocks in which many of the family members follow in his steps. For years he raised and competed with carrier pigeons.
Survivors include wife Patricia Lynn (Scannell) Laird, children Lisa, Steve, Nikki, Sondra, Lynnette and Jeffrey, siblings Ron, Jane, and Jolene, his grandchildren, Bethany, Jacob, Zachary, Tiffany, Steffani, Camryn, Dominik, Alissa, Linda, Lacey, and William Jr., fifteen great grandchildren, 3 boys and 12 girls, and other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his first wife Cindy, parents Wesley and Mary Laird, brothers Richard 'Dickey' and Larry.
Jerry's family will greet friends for visitation from 10:00am to 11:00am on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Iles Grandview Park Chapel, 3211 Hubbell Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50317. Later that afternoon at 2:30pm the family will meet at West Lawn Cemetery, 2897 Racine Avenue, Lehigh, Iowa 50557
