Janina Jania Obituary

Janina Jania of Glen Cove, New York, passed away on December 2, 2024, at the age of 89. She was born on June 24, 1935, in Poland. As a young child of WWII, she moved with her family to the United States. The family made their way to Greenvale, Long Island and eventually Janina called Glen Cove her permanent home. She was an active member of the community, in particular volunteering at the Glen Cove Senior Center. She was a self-taught musician, always so happy to entertain everyone with her guitar, harmonica or simply singing a beautiful tune. She was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and proudly earned the honor of Captain. She was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews; and is preceded in death by her parents Pauline and John Jania, brothers Stanislaus Klaus and Francis Frank Jania and sister Sophie Jania. Services: As per her wishes, a private graveside funeral will be held. Memorials may be made to the Glen Cove Sage Foundation (see glencovesage.com for details).
