Lavancha Waddell Obituary

STURGIS, Mich. — Lavancha Helen Waddell, 96, of Sturgis passed away Friday, May 29, 2015, in Charlevoix, Michigan.
She was born in Kendallville, Indiana, on June 17, 1918, the only child of Nathan and Alzenah (Browand) Waddell.
In 1923, she moved to Sturgis, graduating from the Sturgis High School in 1936. She took the short course from the Business and Professional School in Detroit, graduating in 1937. After school she always worked in accounting starting at Kirsch and then Sturgis Newport. During the 1960s she moved to Arizona, returning to Sturgis and then following work in Benton Harbor and Warsaw, Indiana, finally returning to Sturgis. In 1983 she retired from Rehau.
Miss Waddell was a member of the Sturgis First United Methodist Church, the Pythian Sisters, the Hammond Organ Society and Needles and Hooks. She enjoyed trips to Weisloch, German, – establishing a lasting friendship the her host family.
She was preceded in death by her mother in 1957 and her father in 1991.
She is survived by many Browand cousins and Waddell cousins.
Friends and family may visit from 9–10 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church, 200 Pleasant Ave., Sturgis, Michigan.
Services will be held immediately following the visitation at 10 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Jeanie Koughn officiating.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville, Indiana.
Memorial donations may be directed to the First United Methodist Church, envelopes are available at the church or the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis, who has been entrusted with the arrangements.
