Monroe Franklin Beaird, 86, of Columbus, MS, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital- GT in Columbus, MS.
The visitation will be Friday, April 12, 2024, from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Columbus, MS.
Mr. Beaird was born April 15, 1937, in Darlove, MS to the late Wiley Beaird and Mavis Mildred Keith Beaird. Mr. Beaird was a United States Air Force Veteran and served as a Medic from 1955 to 1959 in Italy and Thule, Greenland. After serving in the military, Mr. Beaird went to Hinds Junior College, where he met his future wife – Beverly. He then went to Mississippi State University, where he graduated with a Specialist Degree. He was an advocate for education and always encouraged people to further their education. Later, Mr. Beaird was the Director of the Vocational Center at EMCC and retired after 33 years. Mr. Beaird was an awesome grandpa who loved his grandchildren dearly. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. Mr. Beaird enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his garden. In addition to his parents, Mr. Beaird is preceded in death by his grandchild, Bradley Briggs.
Mr. Beaird is survived by his wife- Beverly Beaird; daughter- Bobbye (Jeff) Chism; son- Bart (Gina) Beaird; grandchildren- Bailey Beaird, and Tyler Beaird; brother – Keith (Pauline) Beaird; sister-in-law – Patricia Calloway; and numerous nephews and niece.
Pallbearers will be Harry Fulton, Larry Fulton, Lee Frith, Guy Wilcox, Rick Rigdon, and Mike Carter.
Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida, 33607.
