KATHRYN HEAD Obituary

Kathryn "Kay" McCagh Head, 76, of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville.
Kay was born in Cumberland, Maryland on Oct. 7, 1948, to the late Frank and Catherine (Blake) McCagh. She is preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Dennis Sean; and brothers, Dr. Sean McCagh and Dennis McCagh of Cumberland, Maryland.
Kay is survived by her husband of 48 years, Doug Head; and her loving son, Brian Head. Also surviving are her siblings, Mike McCagh and wife Lea, Brian McCagh and wife Terry, Tim McCagh, Kevin McCagh, Erin McCagh Morrissey and husband "Buzz", and Bridget McCagh Engels; sisters-in-law, Terri McCagh and Kim McCagh; brother-in-law, Allen Head and wife Susan; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Kay was a 1966 graduate of Catholic Girls Central in Cumberland, Maryland. She moved to White County in 1969 as a Vista Volunteer. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Georgia in 1972, and her Masters of Education from the University of Georgia in 1976.
Kay was a teacher in North Georgia for 33 years, a member of Mossy Creek United Methodist Church, and an active leader in the lives of her students and the special needs community.
Family and friends were received at Mossy Creek United Methodist Church Family Life Center in Cleveland on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025. A service followed with Reverend J. Grantham officiating.
