Beverly Zander Obituary

Beverly "Bev" Jean Zander

February 26, 1944 - October 11, 2024

COLUMBUS - Beverly "Bev" Jean Zander, age 80, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024. She was born February 26, 1944 in Baraboo, WI. Bev graduated from Sauk City High School in 1962. She was married to Donald "Don" M. Zander on September 28, 1968 at St. Aloysius Church in Sauk City. Bev and Don built their home in Columbus in 1969.

Bev worked as a Bank Teller after she graduated from high school until 1981. She worked at banks in several locations including Sauk City, Sun Prairie and Columbus - Farmers and Merchants Union Bank.

She enjoyed volunteering in numerous roles for Saint Jerome Catholic Church in Columbus. Bev worked at Saint Jerome School where she prepared and served lunch to the students. She became "grandma Bev" to many and would often accept invitations to babysit.

Bev was a dedicated and loving wife, mom, grandma and proud great-grandma. She excelled at being a tidy homemaker, baker, gardener and crafter. She attended all of her daughters' school and sports activities and heard many band concerts. Bev attended many of her grandchildren's events as well. She enjoyed going to live musicals with her daughters and grandchildren, especially Sound of Music and Annie.

Bev and Don enjoyed many treasured hours together. They hosted family gatherings, entertained friends around campfires, spent time up-north, played cards or dominoes, traveled Wisconsin, visited family in Florida, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio and Pennsylvania and did special sightseeing excursions to Alaska, Hawaii, Missouri, South Dakota, New York and Canada.

Bev's safety mantras were "call when you get there" and "hold on to the railing" when walking down the staircase. You could also count on her never missing the local news or weather (multiple times a day), The Price is Right, Family Feud and Jeopardy.

Bev is survived by Don, her loving husband, of 56 years; two daughters: Renee (David) Berkevich of Rio, Rhonda (Travis Stuck) Zander of Appleton; four grandchildren: Brianna (Cody) Patel, Jacob Berkevich, Noelle and Adrian Graverson; two great-grandchildren: Sonia and Sai Patel; sister, Diane (Gary) Janzen of LaCrosse; sister-in-law, Diane Zins of Prairie du Sac; plus many in-laws, out-laws, relatives and friends.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Augusta (Breunig) Zins; and brother, Larry Zins.

A visitation will be held at Saint Jerome Catholic Church, 1550 Farnham St., Columbus, WI, on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 beginning at 10 a.m., with a Funeral Mass beginning at 12 p.m., with lunch to follow. Fr. Jim Leeser will officiate.

Bev's family would like to thank the caring staff and social workers at Prairie Ridge Health in Columbus, Dawn Faust, APNP, Dr. Michael Frucht, Dr. Vanesa Botsford, Watertown Health Care Center and Holistic Home & Hospice Care.

Memorials may be directed to Saint Jerome Catholic Church or Saint Jerome School.
