Dixie McGlin Obituary

Dixie Sanders McGlin Sauquoit/Albany Dixie McGlin, formerly of Sauquoit, N.Y. and recently a resident at the Teresian House, Albany, N.Y. passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025. Dixie was born in Hatfield, Missouri on December 15,1927 to Giles and Ella Sanders. She attended grade school in Leavenworth, Kansas and Hatfield, Missouri and graduated from Hatfield High School in 1946. Dixie grew up in rural Missouri working on the farm and was never afraid of hard work including bailing hay, riding horses, and feeding the cattle. On May 2, 1947, she was united in marriage to Donald James McGlin in the Blessed Sacrament Church, Bethany, Missouri. They were married for 66 years. Dixie was predeceased by her husband Donald, her sisters Dorothy and Betty, and her brothers Donald and Ronald. She is survived by her son Dennis, daughter-in-law Sheila, granddaughter Colleen and her wife Regina McGlin and great-grandson James, grandson Michael and his wife Margaret McGlin and great-granddaughters Nora and Ella. She leaves several nieces and nephews in Missouri including two special nieces Wanona Huffman and Peggy Miller. The family would like to recognize her caring friends Faye Rowlett, Nancy Bialek, Janet Hancock, James and Barbara Hinman, Debbie Beardsley, Anthony Macri, Colleen Cassort, Mary Ann Schloop, Terri Moran, Connie Griffin, Ed Collins, and many other friends in Sauquoit. Dixie worked at the Willowvale Bleachery, Doeskin Paper, and Mohawk Containers. She enjoyed working in the yard, gardening, and baking. Dixie was a member and communicant at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church Chadwicks, N.Y. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church, 3364 Oneida St., Chadwicks, N.Y from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clayville following the Funeral Mass.
